#1stresponders and Finances...

By Safe Call Now's Captain Brian Nanavaty

“If you fail to plan- you are planning to fail.” Benjamin Franklin

Studies show the #1 reason for the dissolution of relationships in the first 7 years is financial discord. Add to that the stress of a career spent as a first responder and it is no wonder many enter their golden years unprepared physically, emotionally and most of all financially.

The professionals at My Money Wellness© have teamed up with Safe Call Now® to offer financial education and literacy training using a fun and motivating three part concept:

Classroom/Online Workshop: The experts at My Money Wellness© utilize an easy to follow workbook to walk students through an understanding and application of the following financial concepts:

·         Budgeting and Planning for Emergencies
·         Tackling Debt
·         Relationships and Money
·         Wealth Building

The financial themes are presented in an open workshop style format designed specifically for the public safety professional and the first responder family.

Web-Based Training: In addition to the classroom workshop, Safe Call Now® and My Money Wellness© also offer ongoing online education. Web- based learning helps the student build on the classroom training through long-term reinforcement. This ongoing education allows public safety professionals to refocus and gain control of their money, secure their future, and create peace of mind through long-lasting behavioral changes.

Red Folder... Giving Peace of Mind to High Risk Occupations

Red Folder

First Responders are key to our communities on a variety of levels. These include maintaining peace and order as well as providing safety and care to those in need.  Regardless, each First Responder knows why they put on their uniform each and every morning – service to others. But what of the first responder – who is there to assist these fine men and women?

Christopher Burgess, CEO of Prevendra and the creator of Red Folder and the rest of the Prevendra team believe strongly in Safe Call Now®’s mission. We know that every first responder will at one time or another during the course of their career have an opportunity to help one of their colleagues or family member with a crisis (big or small).

Is My Personal Info Really Secure???

Red Folder

I’ve been speaking with Christopher Burgess about Red Folder.  It is extremely affordable and having said that it is an absolutely heaven-sent system to completely manage, protect and secure my personal life and information for me. From all social media accounts, bank accounts, credit card and mortgage information, medical identity information, wills and pharmaceutical information including dosage and complete list of drugs.  Utilities, accounts and point of access—and passwords on all of the above.

I’ve discussed security in a previous video, but in the following video I really do drill down on how important security is to everyone today, especially to first responders, public safety personnel and their families.  If there is no security, there is no benefit.  Let’s hear what Christopher has to say.

Using Red Folder Every Day...

Red Folder at the ready...

I’ve been talking with Christopher Burgess, the co-founder of Red Folder. He created this product as a direct result of his 30+ years in service to our nation. I was curious about how a member like me could get started with Red Folder and how easy it is to use.

Two things occurred to me as we continued our conversation. Number one is that Red Folder could have really helped me during my darkest times. As first responders we are trained to react quickly to some very intense situations, but taking proactive steps to organize the simple details of everyday life—this can be a challenge! I know it is for me and I’m certain it is for many in our community that need help. The reality is that our lives as first responders are incredibly stressful. Budgets get decreased daily, but overtime continues. We never know when we’ll need to access an critical account number, or medical identity…but chances are when we need to access it—we’ll be busy.

Helping You Keep it all Straight...

Red Folder

I enjoyed my conversation with Aegis Identity Group recently. I know that today life is busy for all of us.  For me when it comes to my personal passwords, login names, location of important information that I tend to keep it on scraps of paper around the house.  Sometimes I can't remember where I hid my passwords.  The product, Red Folder makes so much sense to me. For less than .25 per day I can keep literally everything in one place, protected, secure and assigned a designee in case I am unavailable for any reason.

Think about the course of one week. All social networks, your Instagram password, your Facebook user ID. All banking and credit card information. Each and every medical, dental, psychiatric, ophthalmologist and therapeutic contact information…the health insurance number associated with each account. All of the pharmaceutical information including the time of day to take each medication.

Take Red Folder for a Test Drive

Safe Call Now® always attempts to offer and review those services available to first responders and their family members that can help them in times of crisis.  Those that can change your life, those that will help you in times of need or just bring you peace of mind with your life.

I’ve been detailing my conversation regarding Red Folder and how it can help those people who need it most—the first responders in crisis. I encourage all of you to try it out, it is free for 30 days. You’ll be amazed at how it can help you at an unexpected moment. When you need access to a credit card number, or your medical ID card—and you just can’t find it. Maybe you are in a crisis situation and need immediate access to your water shut off valve or need to know how to light a gas furnace. Red Folder keeps every single account, online user name and password, your wills, any directions about your house or family—right at your fingertips. It is secure, organized and a total life saver. You can read our previous blog posts here.

What happens when it all goes wrong???

Red Folder

I was talking to our friends at Aegis Identity Group about ways to help first responders that are in crisis, perhaps in recovery and just help keep them organized in their daily lives. I remember those times and while my life was in crises so was everything around it.  My finances, my bills, passwords, you name it.  Since we run into this frequently we needed solutions!!!

The Safe Call Now® team was discussing identity theft protection with the guys at Aegis. (I’ll discuss this in a later blog.)  I remarked that it was impossible to keep every day affairs in order while juggling the chaos in my life in times of crisis. Aegis has a solution for this, Red Folder.

The co-creator of Red Folder, Christopher Burgess –created an actual “red” folder many years ago in his years of public service. He found that almost each time he was deployed, life still continued back home. There were daily tasks that still needed to be done, yet often in times of craziness—his family found something as simple as an insurance number or a water shut-off valve was easier said than done.

Safe Call Now® at the 2015 ILEETA Conference

Safe Call Now® Director of Curriculum & Training - Captain Brian Nanavaty

Safe Call Now® was recently joined by our friends at My Money Wellness at the 2015 International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association (ILEETA) conference in Wheeling, Illinois from April 20-24.

In addition to presenting two well received training courses: Averting Personal and Career Crisis and Officer Development through Mentoring, Safe Call Now® and My Money Wellness interacted with hundreds of attendees in the Exposition Hall, distributing materials and sharing information on Safe Call Now®’s non-profit mission and crisis and referral services. In addition to wellness and development issues, ILEETA attendees were also made aware of the importance of financial education for first responders and the impact of financial distress on relationships.

In an effort to promote crisis awareness and financial literacy, Safe Call Now® and My Money Wellness developed a Three Minute Crisis Survey, agency leaders and training instructors could distribute to their employees to gauge the need and desire for future training on these impactful topics.
